So I'm almost half way through my 18 week break from work to focus on my projects, (that why I haven't been posting much)
I've discovered a couple of websites that will publish my graphic novel and my card game at reasonable cost and I'm about halfway done with both to be completely ready to print, the only real problem I have now is finding customers interested in my products because if using sites like Redbubble has taught me anything, it's that only about 1 in 1000 views makes a sale, so judging from the amount of views I get on my artwork, here at DeviantArt I'm not likely to make any sales at all.
So how am I going to tackle this issue?
Well the first idea I had was to just jump onto kickstarter but after calculating the cost of printing, shipping and adding Kickstarters 10% cut, I'd have to sell over 15,000 copies of my card game at $20-$25 each, if I bulk buy.
I did find a site that will print to order and the cost per deck is about the same but they take a 30% cut.
Kickstarter does seem the most profitable option if I can get the sales, but how?
So I thought to myself maybe I should commission artwork from some really popular artists on some of my cards and maybe the front cover of my novel, so their fans will see the card game and graphic novel to help promote the KickStarter but not only do I then need to arrange a payment plan with these artists which will eat into my profit,
but the artists I've messaged so far have not responded.
I guess maybe the idea is a little overwhelming for some people but I am not giving up hope yet.
Do you know an amazing artist that you'd like to see collaborate with me on a project?
Do you have any suggestions other than using kickstarter?
